A reinforced toe cap and sturdy platform make for secure edging and jamming, while the arch is cut away to accommodate etriers on marathon aid pitches. Locdown lacing comfortably secures your foot when the terrain gets technical, and super-sticky Mad Rubber grips granite slabs and wet trails with ease.

I like this shoe for the SAC price. It's thick and fairly comfortable. The heel feels a bit heavy to me, but at least your foot's protected.

The Mad Rock Fanatic Approach Shoe did not fit well. The toe box on both pairs I tried on felt weird, and the shoes are extremely bulky for an approach shoe. The fit was loose and insecure. The construction looks like they should be sold at Wal-mart.
