Description of Montrail Cirrus GTX Mid Shoe - Men's: |
 |
The Montrail Men's Cirrus GTX Mid Shoe has the durability and support of a hiking boot in a lightweight, waterproof, mid-height shoe. These boots have a minimalist design for fast hikes and a seamless, padded heel with ankle support for rocky terrain. Montrail gave the Cirrus a stretch Gore-Tex XCR insert to keep your feet dry on winter hikes through snow, rain, and slush. A high-density midsole wrap adds support for longer hikes.
Bottom Line: Keep hiking in wet, winter weather wearing the Montrail Cirrus XCR Mid Shoe.

| Not great 07-15-09 |

| Shoddy construction. Last separated within 3 weeks of purchase < 15 miles. A large ball of material where tongue joins shoe presses uncomfortably on top of foot. Ankle padding is abrasive, stiff and unforgiving.
This is not a quality boot. Look elsewhere for a light hiker. |

| Great mid weight Boot 06-20-09 |
Gabe H. (1): |
| I was weary of ordering a Montrail boot because I had never worn a pair, and didnt' know much about the brand. I got these off SAC for sixty bucks, so I thought -why not? I was blown away by the fit, finish and overall feel of this light to mid weight hiker. great sole, lots of support around the ankle and very well padded. The boot comes up just a bit higher than I expected which is good from a support perspecive. I normally wear a 10.5 to 11 shoe, and I ordered this in an 11 which is perfect. The fit as thought they were built around my D width foot, and the toe box is very roomy. Though I have about a half inch in front of my toes, no matter what I do, i can't push my feet forward in the boot to touch the front, even on downslopes because the support and lacing is so precise. I don't have any problems with the laces as someone else did. Also, the lace eyelets are easily big enough to change laces of you find that necessary.
I normally only wear Merrell boots, but these have made me a believer. I also think the boot is much better looking in person than in these pics here on BC. Best use in my opinion would be everything from day hikes up to long weekends with 30-40lb packs. I haven't been in super wet conditions yet, but the gore membrane is comforting if the skies open up. |

| GTX body great, weird laces, not great for wide feet 06-01-09 |

| I've been working these boots relatively lightly for about a month. Good on the basics: they've been supportive, stayed dry, good traction, only a smidge warm a couple of times. Something that I never would have thought would bother me, but bothers me now, is lace construction. The laces are as thin as angel hair, and the eyelets (tiny webbing loops, actually) are too thin to squeeze in anything beefier. They dig into my hands when I try to tighten the boots, and I'm just waiting for the laces or the eyelets to snap. Also, subtract a star if you have wide feet; these boots have a narrow/average bed and won't stretch AT ALL. I had to re-lace them to skip the second-to-bottom eyelets. Quite comfy afterwards, though. |
