Description of Montrail Namche Hiking Boot - Women's:
The Montrail Namche Hiker has the brain of a trail runner with the body of a hiking boot—you can take it anywhere. The Namche's high-cut ankle gives you excellent lateral support on scree slopes or off-camber jaunts. While the Namche may look like an all out hiking boot, its weight conscious design will make you wonder why your clunky, old trail runners aren't high cut too. The Namche's Integrafit lasts ensure a comfortable fit and have roomy toe boxes with a snug forefoot. That way, when you're heading down the Bright Angel trail, your toes won't jam into the front of the shoe, yet the fit will remain snug. To further control, Montrail constructed the Namches with lightweight protection plates to bolster torsional rigidity.
Bottom Line: The Montrail Namche Hiking Boot is a lightweight trail banshee.
After ordering the size 11 ( usually a size 10 ) because of the reviews saying the boots ran small and finding them to be too big, I returned them for a size 10 which fit just right. So , I would consider these boots run true to size.
I bought these boots because my feet tend to overheat when hiking and these look to have plenty of mesh then another fine mesh on top to keep sand, etc out. I am yet to test them out, but they seem to fit my foot well - narrow heel and ankle but wider in the forefoot.
I got the Montrail Namche for hiking/scrambling in the southern Utah desert. The shoe is well-ventilated, perfect for a hot desert environment. It's also very supportive, but comfortable like a running shoe. It runs 1/2 size small, so order 1/2 size larger than normal. It's also a bit narrow, which I LOVE since I have narrow feet. A good hiker for warm, dry conditions that offers all-day comfort.
These are good shoes. I like the ankle support for rough terrain and the sole has lots of traction. The fit is okay; they are a bit snug; I wouldn't try to do more than 5 miles in them.
