Montrail made the lightweight Odyssey Running Shoes as a hybrid for running from knee-grinding streets to soft, off-camber trails. A low-density heel softens heel strike on the road, while a stiffer forefoot lends solid footing on the trail. Montrail gave their lightest shoes a gel pad in the forefoot for comfort on the road and protection on the trail. The Odyssey Shoe's medium-volume forefoot is lined with seamless mesh for unmatched breathability and smooth comfort when you run without socks.

I've worn many of the Montrail line for trail running over the years. This shoe is perhaps the best cross-over shoe I've worn. It performs well on trails but it also works well when a street run is required. If you run to a trail or mix trails with road running this is a great shoe.

These shoes are really nice and comfortable, however they tore up on the first trail I took them on! When it says light trail running it definitely means it. These are made for extremely soft trails!!
