Description of Montrail Hardrock Trail Running Shoe - Womens:
The Montrail Hardrock, inspired by the Hardrock 100 ultra race, is built for the rough, rocky terrain of its namesake. Providing the utmost stability and traction, protection doesn't sacrifice agility, flexibility or weight. It's versatile enough for quick runs or long hikes thanks to its platform design. Aggressive lugs let you plow through dirt and mud with traction. With a wider midsole and molded protection plate—sculpted for flexibility during forward motion—it protects the bottom of your foot from bruising. The firm heel counter holds you steady. Designed with a metatarsal gel pad for cushion in the forefoot, and a high-density medial post, Hard Rock helps prevent pronation (and turned ankles). Webbing strips and synthetic overlays in the upper provide killer support. Using an IntegraFit™ last, these shoes feel like they're custom made. Montrail even used style cleverly with embossing that doubles as abrasion protection so they last longer.
Bottom Line: Take on the roughest trails with Montrail Hardrock Running Shoes.
...I've ever owned. Period. Not only is this shoe supportive on the arch and ankles, but it is also super lightweight for its class and has great traction. I used to have problems with ankle-rolling, but with these shoes I'm able to run confidently over mud, gravel, water, even rocky downhill slopes. My only complaint was that I had to order a 1/2 size up from my normal shoe size. If you are like me and waver between a half size, order a half size up from your normal largest size.
These shoes have been great so far, didn't take any time to break them in and they're super comfortable and supportive whether I'm on pavement or trails. They definitely run a little small though, I had to exchange for half a size bigger than I normally wear.
These shoes are amazing!! They are very sturdy and stable but do not feel bulky or heavy. They did not require any significant break in time and are versatile enough to accommodate my city runs and hiking/trail adventures. They are well ventilated so my feet do not get overly hot or sweaty. One negative I've noticed so far is that the lace construction is not that durable. The loops holding the upper laces started to fray almost right away and this does concern me for the life of the shoe but so far has not caused any problems and everything is still in tact. Overall, I highly recommend them!
