Bottom Line: Long live soft and fuzzy fleece jackets!
I received my Montane Liberty Fleece Jacket today, I could not wait to open the package! The pockets are huuuge and they seem to double as side-vents, the fleece is super soft, and the steel colored side panels give the jacket a nice contoured shape and the ability to stretch. This fleece was exactly what I was looking for!
A couple comments for others thinking about purchasing:
- Backcountry was right on, this fleece does run smaaalll! I am 5'2'' (aprox 105 lbs) and normally wear an extra small top, regardless of whether the product "runs small". I'm so glad i decided to take Backcountry's advice and order a size up, as the extra small would have been wayyy too small!
- The green as backcountry pictures is not an accurate depiction of the true color of this fleece. In actuality "vivid green," is a soft, gray green. A bit disappointing (my only reason for giving this product 4 rather than 5 stars), as i was looking forward to my NINJA green fleece, but I'm still totally satisfied with my purchase!
If you like the athletic fit of Arc'teryx, you'll dig this jacket. I bought it because I like the color combo of lime and grey, and was totally surprised to find it fit me perfectly! I'm 5'11" and 135lbs., and jackets are never as long as I'd like - this one covers my butt in the back and doesn't let cold air in when I'm sitting.
This is a lightweight/mid-weight jacket, which is great for between-season or summer night use. My only request would be an interior pocket, but for the sale price I got it for, I'm very pleased.
As recommended by Backcountry, I did size up and am very happy I did. Usually I wear a medium in jackets, but went with a large this time. The arms are perfectly long enough (hits me at the main joint of my thumb), and the shoulders perfectly broad. I wear a size 6 or 8 pants, and the waist of this jacket was just right as well - not baggy, not tight. If you're short-torso-ed, the large may be too long for you, so consider yourself warned.
The fleece is soft and attractive to the eye. The green is nowhere near as vivid as the picture suggests - it's more of a spring-green. The pale lime green is flecked with grey, and I was happy it wasn't as "electric" as the picture seems to suggest. My boyfriend loves the look of this jacket on me, and I'm very pleased with this brand. Montane, I heart you.
