Description of Mountain Hardwear Burly Wooly Pullover - Men's:
Like your wool sweater, but not impressed with its slightly wimpy durability? Take it up a notch with the Mountain Hardwear Men's Burly Wooly Pullover. Wool, polyester, and nylon work together to form a sweater that takes the abuse of a backpack and won’t die off after a few seasons of wear. The semi-fitted cut won’t leave you with the dreaded tent look, and the 13-inch-long front zipper lets you regulate your temperature.
Bottom Line: The Burly Wooly Pullover can beat up your old pullover.

Awesome all around pullover -- only one you need 10-07-09
I've got this in two colors -- navy and gray -- and it's awesome in both. A little itchy directly adjacent to the skin, especially at first, but this gets better with washing. Simple to wash: cold then dry flat, which is less fuss than many other wool-based pullovers. Protection is great from the weather, and even does a decent job keeping out wind and rain. It does absorb water, but it does so very slowly, and doesn't lose warmth, so you can be outside for several hours in a light rain without needing a shell. I've worn this almost 24/7 for several days of hiking/camping in inclement weather and its still virtually smell-free at the end. Also folds up and makes a great pillow. I'm 165#, 5'10, and this fits great in a medium over a baselayer or casual shirt. For the weight-conscious, I've weighed my two and they came in at 17.9 and 18.3 oz.
Spent a week backpacking and climbing in Peru. Temperatures ranged from 15F to 80F and this sweater was the most key piece of clothing i had with me. it never saw the inside of the pack as I was either wearing it or had it lashed to the outside for quick access when the weather turned. Super warm, no itch, perfect fit. can't brag on it enough.
This is a great pullover for most outdoor activities in cold weather, especially fall and early spring. It's not too technical or anything but it's very warm and stylish yet modest. Would go great over a baselayer or flannel shirt, or under a shell. The front pocket can also come in handy at times but I feel it's a bit unnecessary and just adds bulk and weight. It's also a bit itchy on exposed skin but it doesn't get too annoying. I would recommend this for light day hikes or anyone working outside in cold weather. Overall it's an excellent pullover if you can get it at a discount.
