Description of Mountain Hardwear Fulcrum EXT Glove :
Light enough for streamlined alpine climbs yet warm enough for frigid ice routes, the Mountain Hardwear Fulcrum EXT Glove provides flexible protection that stands up to hard mountain abuse. The four-way stretch softshell outer provides stout weather resistance while allowing you to move, and the goatskin leather palm gives you a firm grip on your ice tools or ski poles. The high-loft fleece lining adds warmth and wicks moisture, and the long gauntlet creates a seal against snow and moisture.
Bottom Line: Come equipped for alpine terrain with the Fulcrum EXT Glove.
This glove is warm, durable, and supple. The soft lining adds just enough warmth for active cold weather sports. There is a loop on the finger to clip to a carabiner so that you can hang them off your harness without getting snow into them. I use these for cold weather mixed climbing and have great dexterity for dealing with the rope and ice screws. One layer of Nikwax really helps for waterproofing.
Let me start out by saying that I've used these gloves over a dozen times already in the snow, both snowboarding and mountaineering. These gloves are extremely comfortable, warm, dexterous. The goat skin on the finger tips give you a really good feel on what you are touching.. whether it be your bindings on your snowboard, or working your rope through an ATC belay device!! The pull strings mechanism to cinch down the gauntlet is Very quick and easy to use, and seems to be a durable design. As you would expect they are perfectly windproof. They also take a low profile liner glove just fine, the fingers are just wide enjoy to fit a liner.
The only reason I didn't give these gloves 5 stars is because the grey leather isn't waterproof. The black goat skin seems to repel the water just fine, but after a long day of snow boarding the grey leather would be wet! It was an easy fix, I applied Nikwax waterproofer over the grey and black leather, and have not had a problem since!
Most Definitely recommend these gloves!
