The Mountain Hardwear Men's Compressor PL Jacket is a super-light insulator for high-alpine assaults. It packs down in a small stuff sack and fits in the corner of your pack until you need it as an extra layer. Mountain Hardwear stuffed it with synthetic PrimaLoft One insulation, which maintains its insulating properties even when wet. Beyond climbing, the Compressor's light weight and packability make it easy to bring on backcountry tours or even as a mid-layer for lift skiing.

The Compressor PL Jacket is an excellent insulating layer: well-constructed, lightweight, aesthetically pleasing. It clearly is not as warm as down, but its minimal bulk (nice for layering under a hardshell) and "packablity" make it a reasonable alternative. The jacket is typical of Mountain Hardwear products—superior in design and quality.

This jacket is one of the greatest jackets ever made. I bought one for my husband for Christmas. We live in a Minnesota and it was a little light for the below zero temps, but my husband wore it anyway. I kept borrowing it so often that I bought one too. Then we bought one for my dad. My dad uses his for his weeklong Canadian fishing trips. It is super lightweight and keeps you warm like you're in a sleeping bag. I wore mine all through the spring for outdoor jaunts with the dog. My husband has worn it for hockey, broomball, etc. The only drawback is that it doesn't have any pitzips for super sweaty sports like hockey. I've used it skiing as well, for days that are a little warmer.

Mountain Hardwear has done it again. The compressor PL jacket is the best top layer or under layer for a ski day. Packs down into the smallest pocket of my backpack and is not a bulky under layer. The weight and size keep you warm on the coldest windiest wildest ski days while hitting up Vail's Back Bowls. Doesn’t absorb to much odor and breaths. Love this jacket.
