Description of Mavic HC Cycling Bib Short - Men's:
The Mavic HC Cycling Bib Short makes use of industry-leading materials to increase time spent in the saddle. With features such as an Ergo 3D Pro Insert and Wick-Matrix-Power fabric the HC Bib avoids the unmentionable cause of rides cut short, and Mavic worked in a pocket for stashing your music device to make miles fly by. Some say this is a killer race-day only Bib. Sure it is…but if every ride’s a race, can’t it be an everyday bib?
These are the first shorts I've bought in a few years and I'm fairly happy with them. The chamois has more padding than I'm used to and it's strategically placed in the right places making for a comfortable ride. The overall fit of the bibs is nice. My only complaint is that the legs are a little short. I'm not a tall guy (5'7") and the legs on a medium feel like they ride up a little more than I'd like.
But not quite. I REALLY wanted to love and keep these bibs, "butt" my sprinter glutes and thighs wouldn't have any of it, or more correctly- my Balzac Tou'Rear. The MIDDLE of the chamois has multi-line padding running fore and aft which works more like a muncher. I do understand patience is required sometimes but for me I would now be a eunuch writing this; never had a chamois irritate so much right off.
Mavic attention to construction is tops, and these may make a super bib for the more spindly, celebrity model gapped rider. I would size up if a Cavendish, but you still might risk your junk being slowly recycled.
Got this for 70 clams off Bonktown and I feel like I got a really good deal. I own bibs from several manufacturers and these are on par with bibs in the 90-120 dollar range...no way would they be worth the full 200. They seem to be comfy and kept my giblets from going numb, what more do you need? The leg-band graphic may be annoying to some, but it's not as bad as any team kit bib.
Anyhoo...they coolest part is they have a small zipper on the front (doesn't chaffe). It's for your dickiedoo. Still requires some snorkeling, but its much easier than some bibs that require you to pretty take your jersey off to feel at one with nature. Rated 5 for the bargain off Bonktown. Product is probably a 4.
