Description of Marmot Uinta Down Jacket - Women's:
When the air is so cold it hurts to breathe, zip up the Marmot Women’s Uinta Jacket. Named after one of the most primo places for winter camping, this 600-fill down jacket battles bottom-feeding temps. Marmot gave the baffled Uinta Jacket a fleece-lined collar for face-snuggling comfort and handwarmer pockets to pamper your hands. The contoured fit keeps you from looking like a sack of potatoes, and an inner stash pocket stores your cell phone or wallet.
Bottom Line: A cozy, durable down sweater with a few luxurious perks.
I just got this in black in the mail from SAC. Wicked sweet deal.. I thought at first it would be bigger since it is a down jacket and full of feathers. So Initially I was bummed. It's not lined so this was another concern... But it's SO warm! I guess I knew it should be but I've never had a down feather coat before. It's about 30 outside and it still is really warm. It has cords at the waist to sinch in the draft. It's fit too so it doesn't look completely boxy. I'm 5'8 125lbs and got a S. Sleeves are long enough. Jacket length is long but I think I'll have to get bibs for skiing. I'm not sure it would be long enough after a good wipeout. It will be nice on those bitter cold walks to class. I don't have anything to compare this jacket to since it's my first down. That's why I gave it a 4 star. I'm sure a $300 down would hopefully be a 5 star. This one is really great for the price though. I would buy it again for such a good deal.
I live in Maine, and need a good down jacket for those brutally cold days. I got the Patagonia down jacket, assuming I would love it. I didn't. It was too short, and I felt like a marshmallow. So I sold it on eBay, and got this jacket, as I love all other Marmot jackets I own (I have 5-6 of them). This jacket is so much better. It's just as warm, and the FIT is SO much better! It is LONG enough in back so that the wind doesn't come up! It is a puffy jacket (it's a high-fill down jacket so this is a given), but I do not feel ridiculous wearing it. I have the rainwater color, which is bright, but not overly so. It is a great color. The only thing I'm not 100% fond of are the wrist cuffs. They are a little big and lack any nice detail (no velcro or liner or anything)... but this is not a deal breaker... just a minor complaint. Otherwise, love the jacket!
I ordered this jacket for my Colorado winter adventures. It will get a lot of use this December. Size-wise I think that it runs just a little big, and there is plenty of length in the torso and sleeves. It's super light-weight and very packable. The drawstring cinches are nice to pull it all in, and the overall fit doesn't leave you feeling like a giant box. Inside my apartment, it warms me up pretty fast...I look forward to putting it to the test this winter.
