Description of Marmot DriClime Catalyst Jacket - Men's:
The Marmot Men's DriClime Catalyst Jacket sports a stretch-paneled, slightly heavy duty design. It features Angel Wing Movement for a full range of motion in the arms and resists wind and water. For the Catalyst Marmot added anatomic stretch panels in key areas to give you a trimmer cut and more mobility. Heavier fabric in the body and shoulders gives you increased abrasion resistance when you use it as an outer shell. Marmot uses an ECO-DWR finish and recycled UpCycle fabric in the Catalyst Jacket as part of their never-ending commitment to the outdoors.
Bottom Line: The Catalyst offers light jacket protection at windshirt weight.
I bought this jacket in Alaska after being unimpressed by the Northface Cypher. It just won Outside Magazine's Gear of the Year award so I figured I might as well try it out. I got it the day before I left for an 11day back pack trip in the Talkeetna mountain range in Alaska. It was a great jacket. I really loved it. It is as warm as a light fleece but nearly windproof as well. It shed some light rain (but it certainly did rain on that trip). I actually barely used my brand new Arcteryx fleece because it was just so comfortable and warm and just generally great. At the same time it was warm it certainly wasn't too warm. I wore it hiking in relatively warm alaskan days (60 degrees and cloudy) and didn't overheat. Even when I did get hot the jacket not once got clammy or even damp to the touch. A great, lightweight layer.
This is very warm for the weght. This jacket is always lying around because it is perfect to grab in so many occasions. Wind resistance, and repels a little water. I always grab this jacket and then my wife grabs it from me when she is cold. easy to pack up small. For me it is good down to the 40's. All around good piece.
I used this product for a trip through the jungle in Mexico and Guatemala and all I can say is that it NEVER let me down. This is really good as an insulating layer, it breathes great... it's made with recycled materials.. what's not to love? The fit? I ordered a medium and it is a great fit on the neck (15), shoulders, arms, and JUST a little tiny big on the stomach area but it can be adjusted. I ordered a whole bunch of products with this through bc and this by far is THE BEST piece of equipment i've bought in 2008. Period.
Did I mention it's like running with a t-shirt? The sensation of comfort you feel with this jacket is nonequivalent
