The Marmot Men’s Pallisades Jacket includes a removable helmet and removable powder skirt to provide you the versatility for anything from mountaineering to backcountry skiing. Gore-Tex Performance fabric protects from the worst weather you encounter in the mountains, and a combination of excellent breathability and Pitzips help you stay cool when the going gets strenuous. Marmot also included their Zippin system, so you can add a fleece or synthetic layer to make this jacket warm enough for the season’s coldest days.
Bottom Line: For all mountain sports.

Marmot Pallisades - Exactly what I wanted 07-29-09
I am very happy with my Pallisades jacket and it is exactly what I wanted for down hill skiing. It is well made and has all the features I was looking for downhill skiing - light weight shell with minimal lining; zip off hood so there is no flapping hood and bulging collar if stowed; zip out powder skirt for non powder days; pit zips to vent off heat when you warm up; 3 external pockets and 1 internal pocket to stash items; sufficient adjustment options to retain heat or vent off heat. I also have a Marmot Cloudlight jacket which does not have any lining that I have skiied in for two years but it is more comfortable to have the minimalist lining in the Pallisades. The cut and panel alignment also mean there was no restriction in arm and shoulder movement. I love it!
Something was off with this jacket, namely the quality. I thought and had expected this Marmot Palisades jacket, being a Marmot, Gore-Tex and relatively expensive, to be in excellent workmanship. However, when I received it I noticed how many stitching areas were fraying and already coming loose. The velcro patches for the storm flap looked so cheap. The waist gaiter also looked like it was from some cheap Burton jacket. The only good things I liked about this jacket was that it was lined (so it added a little more insulation than just a bare shell), that it was waterproof, and that it had front hand pockets (which were very practical). The fit is true to size, with just a little more width for layering purposes. I have narrow wrists but the wrist adjustment's velcro patch didn't go far enough so that the tab could secure firmly all the way down. It wasn't a big deal, but it was still worth noting. In my opinion, this jacket is ideal for city or urban wear. If you want highly quality, technical jackets I'd easily try something else before buying this one. Made in China.
My husband loves his Marmot shell - it's a real upgrade from what he's used to. It's breathable, seriously wind-resistant and comfortable. It looks great too!
