Lake created the 5050 Shoe in league with Max Commencal, one of the most successful mountain bike designers in the world, so you know it’s no thrash-it-and-trash-it piece of footwear. Don’t get us wrong—you’ll definitely wanna thrash this shoe. But thanks to its toe and heel guards, super grip traction outsole, and damn near indestructible full-grain and Action leather uppers, you won’t be trashing the 5050 any time soon.
Great shoes for flats. I'm a women's size 8 (39) and I bought these on Chainlove in the men's size 7. I took a chance as the size chart says I should buy the 6.5 but they were out and I'm glad I did. They fit great! I removed the flimsy stock footbeds and replaced with SOLE Ultras and am now completely in love with these shoes. I have a little room in the toe still but otherwise they are snug and comfortable. The wide and flat outsole is perfect with my flat pedals (Crank Bros 5050). The rubber is pretty grippy and I like that they are non-marking. When the outsoles got wet they were a little slippery, but they were also brand new. I haven't noticed any slip in the 15 rides I've gotten in since then. They hike pretty well when I wimp out, too. Don't be afraid of the white, they look great with dirt on them.
