Description of Lake Signature II Bike Shoe - Men's:
Ritchey Schley is a legend in the mountain bike world. The Lake Signature II is his shoe, designed specifically to stick on flat pedals and endure the abuse of Whistler’s downhill and freeride trails. Wrap-around sticky-rubber soles grip well even when your foot isn’t centered on the spindle, and nylon bumpers at the toe and heel keep premature wear from slowing down your season. Standard lacing lets you cinch down tight, and doesn’t look super-bikey at the bar later on.
I had a pair of the 661 shoes with the optional SPD in the bottom; never really used the SPD just rode it as a platform shoe. These were half the price and stick to the pedal even better!! I guess its no FiveTen but what a killer shoe for the price... chainlove had it for 32 bucks. I have not had a chance to test it out long term but I am sure it will hold up better than the 661. They had some Velcro that destroyed the laces and the white was toast after one run. And, unlike the 661 shoes, these look stylish enough to be worn as an every day shoe. I'll post again later once I test how long they can last. Buy it, you won't regret it!
Great shoe for the price, especially from backcountryoutlet or chainlove. Comfortable for pedaling and stick to pedals great on descents. Feet don't get too hot either. I use them with platform pedals with the replaceable pins.
