Description of Louis Garneau Speed TS Cycling Vest - Men's:
When you need added weather protection on a windy, drizzly day, zip up the Louis Garneau Men’s Speed TS Cycling Vest over your jersey, and go. Well, actually, you could wear this windproof, water-resistant vest without a jersey, but you might get some grief for your beater style. Stretchy and breathable, the Speed TS Vest won’t inhibit your moves or cause you to get steamed in your own sweat.
Bottom Line: Windproof cycling vest, not muscle shirt.
I was pretty impressed with this vest. I got it begrudgingly because of the bright color, to wear on a long bike trip (what's important is your health). It's bright enough to let you be seen by cars, but not so bright that it burns your eyeballs. The green/black actually looks kind of cool. Feeling the material, I was skeptical about the alleged windproof-ness of it, but after wearing it in pretty heavy winds, I was surprised at how warm it kept me. (Apparently 90% of the heat lost while cycling is from your chest, because of the wind hitting you straight on.)
I was skeptical about using a vest for warmth, but this one really sold me. It is a versatile bit of clothing. In the 40's, wear some wool and this thing and you're toasty. In the 50's, wear your jersey and this and you stay warm and dry.
It breaths better than any other jacket I've tried and the pockets are easy to use. It does seem to run a little big and the vest has some stretch in it.
I've bought other jackets for the nippy Midwestern fall, but I keep coming back to this one.
