Description of Kahtoola FLIGHTboot - Snow Travel System:
When the snow is packed but too slippery for regular shoes, slip Kahtoola's Snow Travel FLIGHTboots over your running or hiking shoes, and get a grip as you hike up the trail. As you run or hike along, the FLIGHTboot's stainless steel cleats at the forefoot, midfoot and heel dig in and give you traction with every step. Made with waterproof Neoprene material, these insulated boots keep your feet dry and warm. Slip your running shoe into the FLIGHTboot, zip up the back, ratchet down the front buckle, and get going. The FLIGHTboot easily clips into Kahtoola's FLIGHTdeck snowshoe system (not included) when the snow gets too deep.
Bottom Line: For hiking or running in packed snow, slide your shoes into Kahtoola's cleated Snow Travel FLIGHTboots for a sturdy, comfortable trek.
I have used these boots for running and snowshoeing.
2.5 hrs is the most I have spent at one time in the boot. The weather has ranged between -4 Fahrenheit and 36 Fahrenheit.
In cold weather my feet remained warm, but not too warm. In the wet snow my feet were warm and remained dry.
The boots are very comfortable, I do recommend a low profile shoe, such as a trail runner.
The only con is the drying time of the material. However, if you store them in a dry room or near a warm vent, they can dry overnight.
I also own the FlightDeck snow shoe, they are incredible together.
Great for cold weather. Good combo with flight deck. The shoes float well in deep snow. Often I just use the boots they're real comfortable with running shoes on, The only con I have is the difaculty I have with putting them on over my running shoes. I even pulled out the insert but stil hard to get on.

Okay, so I've had these boots and the FlightDeck for a while now I am more impressed every time I go out on them. I've just spent some time in weather that was down to -10ºf and my feet didn't get cold at all! That's impressive because my feet always run cold. These boots are very easy to slip on over your running shoes, although they tend to stick just a bit if you're shoes are wet. They're very comfortable and I didn't have even the smallest problem when I went out this weekend......Was out for a solid 6.5 hrs! Together with the FlightDeck this is the best combination for showshoeing!!!
