Description of Kayland MXT Mountaineering Boot - Men's: |
Big days in the mountains over varied terrain call for the comfort and versatility of the Kayland Men’s MXT Mountaineering Boot. Thanks to the eVent waterproof breathable membrane, Vibram Mulaz sole and rear heel crampon bail, this boot tears it up on long alpine mixed routes, big-mountain treks, and brief sections of snow and ice.
Bottom Line: A versatile boot for conquering varied terrain.

| Kayland MXT mountaineering 08-12-09 |

| I tested these boots in N Cascades on the Torment-Forbidden route. They are light and I was impressed how they held on approach and the rock climbing part, but they do an average job on snow and ice. The main issue is the narrowness of the sole - they are much narrower than standard step-in crampons and if you do a lot of kicking they will eventually slide laterally in the crampon. Overall good quality, best suited for beginner level mountaineering routes and narrow feet. |

| Perfect 3-Season Mountaineering Boot for Wider Feet 12-29-09 |
Peter B. (10): |
| Are the La Sportiva or Scarpa boots too narrow for your feet? Try the Kayland MXT. They accommodate a little wider foot beautifully. These are the perfect 3-season boot capable of full mountaineering with crampon (strap-on, not clip on) capabilities, yet comfortable enough for trail hiking. The grippy vibram sole makes this boot perfect for scrambling and low-5th class climbing. I can edge on the tiniest flake in this boot. I take these everywhere in the Oltympics and the Cascades. They are light, but durable. 'Event' membrane keeps your feet dry on wet and muddy trails.
This is my second pair. If this model is still around in years to come, I am sure I will buy a third pair. |

| I am very happy (thus far) with this purchase. Out of the box they fell like they were molded for my feet. I can't wait to see what these puppies can do with 50+ pounds on my back in mixed terrain for 10+ days!!! |
