Description of Kayland Vertigo High Backpacking Boot - Men's:
The folks at Backpacker Magazine picked the eVent lined Kayland Men’s Vertigo High Boot for their 2007 Editors’ Choice Award thanks to its versatility. The boot’s waterproof, breathable eVent lining keeps your feet dry whether clomping through wet mud and snow or exploring scree fields and bushwhacking. The Vertigo High’s enhanced rocker rolls you forward naturally with each step, helping you conserve energy during long days on the trail. With extended lacing from the toe to the ankle, dialing in a precise fit is a snap.
Bottom Line: The Kayland Vertigo High delivers for backpackers who want to explore terrain beyond the beaten path.
I have a 9 mile gear test loop I do all the time. I've already loged 5 x 9 for 45 miles in rain and wet snow. Due to the extreme beathability of these boots my feet got only a bit damp with heavy wool socks in 18 - 35 degree hiking. Better than any gortex boot and very light and suportive.I ordered 1/2 size larger for wiggle room and to wear heavier socks. They fit my wide toed feet great. I also have my right foot larger than left and due to very flexible lace system was able to get both feet comfortable. Only down side a bit low on volume so can't use my regular insoles but the the ones with the boots are better than most.
I would recomend to all but very wide feet and for all weather but very cold or hot.

first i would like to honor backcountry with 5 stars it is a pleasure dealing with you guys. about the vertigo high boots imust say they are very comfortable &very stable ihiked with them in heavy rain they proved to be waterproof & rock solid on difficult terrain i recommend these boots highly
Though I haven't had them long, I can already tell Kayland has built a high quality boot in the Vertigo. The second I put them on they just felt "right". The heel cup firmly hugs the heel, while the toe box allows for free movement. The rocker improves the ease and quickness of forward gait, helping the boot to feel even lighter. They also feel much lighter than expected. I had hoped to climb 14ers in these this summer, but I feared they might be too heavy, or too hot. Neither concern is warranted. Don't be afraid to pull the trigger on this awesome boot!
