Whether you’re heading out for a solo, early-morning paddle on a river close to home or planning a weekend sea tour, the Extrasport Semi Dry Top wants on board. This paddling shirt’s waterproof X-Tile fabric shirks light precipitation and paddle spray, and the X-T3 stretch panels offer mobility while you paddle, pack, or portage. The comfortable Glideskin gusseted neck and nylon skirt tunnel seal warmth in and cold out, while fully-taped seams keep out the sneakiest bit of moisture. Stash your phone, lip balm, keys and other small items safely and close at hand in the waterproof, welded chest pocket.
Bottom Line: Stay dry, stay warm, and stay out on the water longer.
Drytop fits great and is extremely comfortable. All the velcro straps also have little keeper tabs of velcro so the straps don't get stuck on everything while taking on and off or storing. If you want to wear it in the winter, the neoprene neck gasket may let in too much water, but I switch to a drysuit when it is that cold so it isn't a problem for me. Fit is more true to size than most paddling gear brands. I got a medium and fits great, where as I am a large in most other brands (Kokatot, Stohlquist, etc).
The material itself is completely water proof. The gaskets around the wrists are completley water tight. If kyayking its nice because you won't get wet until you flip or roll. But because the neck closure is not an actual gasket (hence the reson its a semi-dry top) its just a velcro closure it will trickle in. So provided its cinched tight and you hit that combat roll quick enough you should stay fairly dry. One more note, it does not have water proof pocket. It is a designed wet pocket. There is a factory made hole in it in the shape of the extrasport logo. But its a sweet jacket, it kept me warmer and a heck of a lot drier for a lot longer on my last 3 day kayaking trip. and Im trusting it for my next 5 day trip.
Just received this, and have not tried it out on the water yet. However, the wrist gaskets fit really tight, to the point of almost cutting off circulation. I'm hoping they will open up a bit with use.
