Description of JanSport Whittaker LS Backpack - 4100cu in:
For your 3-day early spring snowboarding trek, load up the Jansport Whittaker LS Backpack and head into the hills. A molded back panel and reinforced hipbelt allow you to comfortably snowshoe deep into the canyon, while vertical internal compression and tubular stays stabilize your pack so it's not bouncing around on you. Snowboard straps and a helmet recess provide room for your hardgoods, and a Gridfit harness plate allows you to customize your fit. A lower alternative entry to the main compartment lets you quickly get to your puffy coat without unbuckling anything up top.
Bottom Line: When the hunt for soft white takes you deep into the mountains, make sure you have the Jansport Whittaker LS Backpack.
The Jansport Whittaker pack has been a favorite of Ranier guides for years, and for good reason. This full featured mountaineering pack is at home not only on the mountain, but on backcountry trails as well. The Gridfit harness plate allows you to easily adjust the torso length and shoulder strap width for the perfect fit. There are tons of pockets all over the pack and plenty of external lashing points if you want to keep extra gear on the outside. One of my favorite features is the hidden side-access zipper running down the outside of the pack. This allows me to snag another layer without going in through the top of the pack and messing up all of my organized gear. The abundance of compression straps make this pack work well even if it isn't packed with a full load.
This looks really cool but it totally fell apart the third time I used it. I was carrying it into the airport to go overseas and one of the main straps just snapped. They are attached by a small plastic piece that breaks easily. When I got to my destination, the other strap had been broken in transit.
I bought it because Backpacker rated it highly, but it was pretty disappointing being in another country dragging around my bag by the handle on top.
Terrible design. Do not buy this bag!
