I actually have the Fork Rack II, but the difference between these two are minor. I had to mount the rack rearwards on my stock 2009 Pontiac Vibe "aero" style crossbars (due to the hatchback clearance). Other than having to shorten the mounting bolts, installation was a breeze. The locking mechanism is plastic, so I always use a cable lock when my bike will be unattended for long periods of time. I also remove the front skewer and rear ratchet strap when I am not using the rack. Overall, the rack is very stable. The front skewer is very beefy. There is no cam lock on the rear ratchet strap, but you can still get it tight enough by hand. The only flex I get is from my stock crossbars. 4/5 because the locking mechanism could be better.

Installed directly to an outback. Fits perfect, very stable, does not interfere with rear door and it looks great. Mounting the bike is very easy. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The only thing I would recommend is a steel locking mechanism. If I was in a bad neighbor hood I would probably use a cable lock also. Boo to Thule and all their proprietary accessories.
