Description of Ground Batu Tent 2-Person 3-Season :
Two chummy peeps can chill in the light and sturdy Ground Batu Tent, up to three seasons of the year. This tent’s innovative design provides excellent headroom, and while the tent isn’t the lightest of the ultra-lights, its spaciousness makes that extra pound more than worth it.
Canted walls for increased headroom
Full-coverage, vented fly with vestibule
Interior pockets to stow headlamp and glasses
Aluminum pole hubs provide bomber structure
Bottom Line: Go ahead and stretch out. Maybe play a round of ping-pong.
I got mine on S&C (it was billed as 3 man, but shipped as 2 man). The people at S&C credited me an additional $10 on my order, so I kept it. I really like it, it's easy to set up and seems to have good room. I like the double vestibule as it gives me plenty of space for my motorcycle gear.
Only one small issue, it's a bit hard to keep the fly plugged in to the cross bars. I think I have that figured out now though. For under $70 it's a great tent.
My wife and I did a 4 night backpacking trip to the Beartooths in Montana. It was our first backpacking trip, so I'm no expert. The tent worked great. It seemed like a good size, and light enough for our 32 mile trip. I could set it up myself, and it kept us dry through one hard night of rain.
I wonder what makes the more expensive tents worth it, but for what I paid, I was very happy.
I bought this tent as a car camping tent alternative to my backpacking tent. There are so many things I didn't like about it, I'm not sure where to start: poor design, questionable construction, heavy, burly poles, difficult setup, slack pitch. It is billed as a backpacking tent, but I couldn't imagine hauling it for any distance. It is even a struggle to get it back in it's bag. Even at under $100 on SAC, I still sent it back. I thought about giving it to a friend for a beginner tent and eat the loss, but I think more of my friends than to do that to them. Ground needs to start at ground zero on this one.
