Description of Ground Bivouac Insulated Jacket - Women's: |
 |
The Glissade Women’s Bivouac Jacket is a backcountry shelter you can wear. During those strenuous ski tours, this waterproof breathable jacket shields you from the elements, insulates you with IT synthetic fill, and still remains highly breathable. IT synthetic insulation performs even when wet, and it’s extremely durable, so you don’t have to worry about it breaking down. Access the Bivouac’s hand pockets even when you’re wearing a pack or harness, and use them for light ventilation when your parka starts to feel warmish. When the pocket vents aren’t enough, side zippered vents give excess heat the boot. The Bivouac Jacket’s lightweight ripstop nylon stands up to tree branches and ski edges without bogging you down.
Bottom Line: Head into the winter with the Bivouac Jacket and don’t come back for days.

| Nice coat. Clean lines and superb, feminine fit. Sleeves are not gusseted, but no matter, there's almost no ride-up.
I've wore it around in 20 degree temps and am quite warm w/plain shirt underneath, but I've not yet tested in wind or rain. It is designated waterproof, so we'll see.
This coat feels great on. The insulation is very non-bulky, sweet to move around in, and doesn't interfere whatsoever in full range of motion. Nice!
Very sporty looking but not in the same manner as say, an Arc'teryx or Cloudveil.
No powder skirt but has separate pull-cord hem inside the bottom pockets to maintain a very secure, and even fit around the hips (doesn't give the "I've been cinched at the waist with a string!" look)which is a really nice feature. It also has a hem draw-cord for additional protection.
It's zips are not laminated which gives a jacket a nice look, but they are protected by flaps. Still, I like laminated zips so I would prefer that.
The side zips are OK, we'll see how much venting they give.
The hood fits very nice, is stowable, has a non-intrusive brim, and has adjustable pull cords at sides as well as a pull cord at the back. Does not interfere with vision at all.
I would've liked the collar to be insulated at the front, but it is more than adequate and soft on the inside. I hate the side-zip collar on my Arc'Teryx which is highly annoying, so this feels really nice in comparison...it can be "half zipped" and still comfortable unlike the Arc's side-zip. It's not too high, nor too low. Just right.
I wouldn't want to pay full price for it, but for this sale price I don't think you can beat this jacket.
As for length, it rides to just above my hip socket, a very good length imho.
As to sizing, it runs just a bit large. If you are small chested/small framed go with an extra small. I'm a 36" bust with slightly broad shoulders and the small is perfect.
Lastly, with all the Cloudveils, Mountain Hardwears, and Arc's out there, it's really going to be nice to be sporting something not everyone and their dog is wearing.
I love this coat! (so far). |

| I recently ordered the bivouac jacket and absolutely love it. It is warm and toasty, but still breathes. I wear it mostly to take my son to the bus stop every morning and can say that it is worth every penny |

| Took this coat out on the slopes where the temps hovered at sub zero to 4 degrees F. Wore a baselayer shirt and a fleece jacket underneath. Simply wonderful, not cold even on the lift (and I do get cold easily).
Non bulky even with fleece underneath, and absolutely no restriction of movement. Can't recommend this coat highly enough. |
