You won’t notice the Ground Men’s Traverse Jacket when it’s stuffed into a little ball inside your pack. But you’ll certainly notice it once the clouds open up and its waterproof breathable shell fabric keeps you dry and comfortable. The zip-off hood and drawcord hem jack up the weather seal, and the two hand pockets hold your energy bar and lip balm while you hike through the tempest.
Bottom Line: Shield yourself during rough-weather crossings with the Traverse.
A very nice jacket, nice and dry, not too heavy (about a pound). The zippers are not sealed, but it still stays dry, even during the 'shower test.' It's also mildly insulated, which the product description did not mention anywhere. It's still February, so I'll have to wait a while before I can tell if it's too warm for a summer storm, but I have a feeling it will be. I might remove it, though. Also, the stuff pocket allows some water to leak in to the back during heavy rain, so I'm considering taping it shut since I shouldn't need it anyway. All in all, a very good jacket, but a few minor oversights in design, and the description needs work.
