Description of Giro Fuse Audio Helmet:
The Giro Fuse Audio Helmet is a lightweight, high-performance helmet for riders who throw temper tantrums if they can't have it all—including comfort, peripheral vision, and their theme songs playing as they shred. The Fuse Audio's wide-angle cut creates a gapless fit with goggles and doesn't obstruct your field of vision, which is nice when you're spotting landings or hauling ass through the trees. Giro teamed up with Motorola to create this rockin' brain bucket, leaving you with DJ-quality digital audio and hands-free telephone capabilities. Bluetooth wireless speakers pop into your helmet or the included DJ headband ('cause even though you might want to, you don't ride 24/7). The TuneUps Wireless technology includes volume, track select, pause-play, and Call Connect controls, and it accepts Bluetooth-enabled cell phones, audio devices, and computers.

Bottom Line: Bang your head.

Works great   12-09-08

I'm going to focus on the Audio components of this thing. To be honest, I couldn't find a really good description anywhere. A few key points: * This has a standard 3.5mm jack, so if you don't have an fancy phone or a media player with bluetooth, you can plug it into any old mp3 player. * There are probably lots of folks out there with an ipod and a phone that works with bluetooth. No reason to go out and buy a fancy bluetooth stereo phone. You can pair it with your phone and just plug in your ipod. When you get a call, it will mute the music. * Not knowing the above, I went out and got me a fancy phone that can act as a music player and supports bluetooth stereo. The headset works flawlessly. I can listen to music, change the tracks, accept a call, make a call, all that good stuff. If you have a call, it pauses your music. * The controls are very nice. They say in the description you can do it with gloves and I was skeptical...but you can. To change the track; you grab the right ear "pod" and twist it (it is like 3 inches in diameter). You can do it with mittens! * The sound is excellent. I mean...just blows away any ear-buds I have had. You can use the earpods in a helmet, but they are big dj style. I only see myself using these laying around the house. I can't see going to the gym or running- although you could kick it old school and go roller skating in Venice beach with giant head phones. The helmet is very nice too. The vent system is cool, fits great, light.

Great Helmet   10-27-08

Helmet was much lighter than I expected. My old Giro SST helmet feels like a brick compared to this thing. The fit of this helmet was perfect. The adjustable dial at the back allowed me to find the perfect fit for my head allowing the helmet to sit properly on my head. The adjustable vents on top is a plus. I hated having to take out the plugs from my helmet on a warm day and keeping them in my pocket because I had a high risk of loosing them. Having control over how wide open to keep the vents is great. Keep them closed on those long lift rides then open them halfway when I start burning up. The wireless headphones are great too. I have access to my phone as an mp3 player. It paired quickly with my chocolate phone. The controls are easy to use for play/pause, volume and changing songs even with gloves on. The range of the bluetooth is pretty good too. No interference or static for a good 30 feet from the source. However the one downside was the connection with the cell phone while talking, sometimes it comes in loud and clear from both ends, other times ill sound like a robot. But whose talking on their phone while bombing down a mountain anyway?? The included dj headband was a plus. It allows me to use the headphones when Im not riding. I can also connect the headphones to my computer and use it as a headset when talking over VOIP and listening to music. Not constrained by the length of wires anymore. I can roam around my house and still listen to music from my computer. Overall great helmet, great audio. Would be a 5 rating if the cell conversations were more consistent in sound and reliability. Def a steal when this thing pops up on tramdock or any of their other sites.

simply put, awesome   11-30-08

I was skeptical about buying this helmet, but now it is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. The helmet is light, adjustable so that you can make it smaller or larger, plus you can adjust it up or down on your forehead so that you can close the gap between the helmet and your goggles. The adjustable vents are great, and the padding and insulation keep your head nice and warm. I was also skeptical about the tune ups kit, mostly because bluetooth hasn't worked to great for me in the past, but again, it has worked much better than I expected. It's easy to connect to your phone, and the sound is clear. I bought the skullcandy bluetooth accessory for my ipod, and it works great. The best part is having the controls on the outside of the earphones. No more digging in your coat to pause, change songs, or adjust the volume, you can do it all from the controls on the earphones. This helmet rocks, you'll be seeing me wearing this thing year round....
