Giro gave the Encore 2 Signature Series Helmet boombproof, durable construction because eating it from 15 feet above the frozen bottom of a half pipe requires some serious head protection. The Encore 2's low-profile, skate style looks good without going overboard with tons of vents or extraneous features. 13 mesh covered vents provide ventilation, without letting snow in when you take a digger.
This helmet works well for me on most days. Adequate coverage and you don't feel like a mellon head. Good curves, skate styling looks great on the slopes.

Great helmet. Spend a few more $ and uprade for tunes. 04-13-09
Worth the $ to get it with the tunes. Buy the one with audio! They fit a lil tight, I rec ordering up a size if you are in between sizes. Falling on rails, this lid keeps prevents concusions. Good venting keeps you cool. Mesh and design keep you dry. Padding keeps you warm. Tunes keep you rocking. The speakers work great, crisp sound. Ive nailed a box or rail or ice head first several times and been sooo glad i had this. Nothin but love for this helmet.(audio version)
Comes with several size 'liners' that you can change out to perfect the fit, make sure you use them if you need them, and size your head with your ski/snowboard hat on!
My only (minor) complaint is that the chin strap is hard to adjust on-the-fly and the fuzzy thing that keeps it from rubbing your chin tends to slide badly towards the side w/ the buckle. The goggle clip works great, keeps my eyewear right where I need/want it.
Helmet also has lots of flat space for stickers, but vents very well.
