The crew at Giro gave the Encore 2 Helmet an advanced, durable construction, because eating it from 15 feet above the lip requires serious head protection. The Encore 2's low-profile skate style looks good without going overboard with tons of vents or extraneous features. 13 mesh covered vents provide ventilation, without letting snow in if you crash. Giro covered an impact absorbing EPS liner with a plastic shell for durability, so the Encore 2 will last through many seasons of riding.
Bottom Line: If want to progress, you're going to fall a lot. Protect your head in the Encore 2 Helmet.
This helmet is so great, good for people who haven't yet worn a helmet and want to start, or anyone looking for an effortless helmet. I barely even notice I have a helmet on anymore! It fits perfect, is light, and has wire mesh vents so you stay cool on shorter hikes, but still don't collect melting snow in your hair on storm days.

Perfect for Someone Who Doesn't Want to Wear a Helmet 03-07-08
For the 8 years I've been snowboarding I kept putting off buying a helmet for two reasons: it would ruin my style, and I didn't want to spend the money on it. Well finally I was talked into buying one for a snowboarding trip to Canada, so I did some research and settled on the Encore2 and I couldn't be any happier. I'm still getting used to having a strap under my chin but other than that the helmet is wicked comfortable and warmer than wearing a hat. Also, the helmet has so many vents that my head can stay comfortably warm and I don't have to worry about sweating or anything. On top of all that, I think its a pretty sweet looking helmet. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a first helmet or for someone looking for a new helmet that will be functional and stylish without spending a lot. The one con I have about the helmet is that I got it in black and it seems to scratch and pick up paint from other things really easily so after a month of regular use its got a bunch of multi-colored marks on it. But then again, who cares, its a helmet!
What a great choice. It vents well on warm days, but a thin liner hat on cold days will give you all the warmth you need. The removable ear pieces also add warmth and comfort. I thought it would be odd wearing a helmet, but I barely knew it was there. A great helmet for the price.
