A low profile, tons of padding, and a grippy sole—the DC Men's Scout Snowboard Boots are like skate shoes for the white stuff. DC tricked out the Scout with the updated Coiler Boa lacing system, which retracts the cables automatically so you don't have to spin the Boa reel to get in and out. Translation? Even less time lacing up and more time riding. The Scout features DC's medium-flex lace-up liner that rocks a foam-padded calf for comfort. Lightweight synthetic leather uppers keep moisture out, a large heel strap makes this boot easy to pull on, and a sticky rubber sole grips on hardpack and slippery parking lots.
These are my first pair of DC boots and i am not very impressed to say the least. First of all i have big feet and these did not fit my feet snug. My front foot did a lot of pronating so on powder days snow would build up under the outside of my foot. And even when there wasnt pow, the outside of my foot would get caught on the top of my binding no matter how tight i tightened my binding. I also feel that the sole of the boot is too thin so i had to make my own insole in order to absorb all the impact i was taking. Secondly i rode these boots at least 70 days this season and they are starting to fall apart. The BOA loops are wearing and my pushing toe is ripping. I also had to put a donut pad on my inside ankle because the BOA gets too tight around the ankle, tighter than in all other places. SO overall, i would not recomend this boot for the hardcore shredders but i would for weekend warriors and begginers mainly because of the BOA system.
Right out of the box they are going to take some breaking in to get a nice fit. I had a hard time just getting my foot into and out of them the first few times I wore them. I should have worn them around the house on a few more occasions to break them in more before hitting the slopes. The BOA system is so much nicer than struggling with regular laces, and the liner has a quick draw to tighten it up. Overall it was a great boot, nice and warm, just take some time to break them in before you hit the snow.
this is a nice boot for people planning on using them occasionally. i bought them because i was turned on by the boa system but after about a week or two of continuous use my ankles would get really sore from the tightness of the boot and the lack of padding on the insert. overall, it's a pretty decent boot and it looks cool but if you plan on using them a lot i would get something else.
