The DC Men’s Status Snowboard Boot uses an ultra-stiff flex and BOA lacing system to give you precision freeride performance that makes the steepest couloirs and spines feel chill. Adjust the top and bottom of your boot separately with the two-zone BOA Focus system to get everything dialed and completely eliminate pressure points. DC built the Status Boot with a synthetic leather upper to give you an extra helping of style without compromising weather resistance.
Bottom Line: Take it to Alaska or to your own backyard steeps.
These boots are DC's most expensive boot for this 08/09 season. Very stiff for freeriding. There is a red plastic insert on the tongue of the liner that I removed to make it a little less stiff until they're broken in. Used them 8x so far and not sure when I'll be ready to put those back in. Design is great, designed by Peter Saville. The memory foam alpha liner means you don't need to heat mold them. They fit to your feet each time you slip them on and don't pack out nearly as fast as other boots. Only drawback is that the boa system is still kind of flimsy. This is my first pair of BOA boots, and one of the side knobs broke off already. Luckily a local boardshop fixed it for me so I didn't have to ship them in and wait a week or two for waranty repair.
When I first got these and tried them on they felt pretty good. They are very stiff which is good and the quality of materials is amazing. They were put together very well and the dual zone boa works much better than the single boa dc boot I had in the past. The liner is very nice as well. The only problem that I had when riding them the two times that I did was they hurt the very center outer part of both my feet, almost as if i was standing on the outsides of my feet all day. I have very wide and flat feet though so these may just not have been the boots for me. Excepting that one point I feel they were an excellent boot for someone looking for a seriously stiff all mountain boot.
One word can describe these boots....Ouch! These boots were so stiff, even without the toungue liners, that they destroyed my shins and ankles. I had to take them off at lunch and quit for the day. The BOA focus system is the only reason I didn't give these boots a 1 star rating. The lacing system is great. Make sure you know what you are buying before you get a pair of the Status or the Allegiance boots. They are stiff as a brick, and too responsive. Yes, I said it...TOO RESPONSIVE. I like to really get low and bomb the mountain. These boots were so stiff and responsive, I had to stand straight up, hardly bending my knees to carve.... I've since sold these and bought some Burton Grails. They don't have a BOA system, but they're like a nice leather lazy boy for your feet.
