Step on the DC HKD Snowboard and shred into a different world of possibility. This board features DC’s Honeycomb Kevlar Directional construction and a lightweight, crazy responsive, highly durable Phantom core. DC wrapped vertically laminated wood in a Dual Torsion Box, a combination of super-strong and lightweight Kevlar and carbon. This engineered construction makes the HKD stronger than a roided-out Austrian, and poppier than mom’s FM presets. DC used a laser—yeah, a laser—to finish the HKD’s sintered base, so you know you this siiiick stick ain’t your dad’s snurfboard. If you’re not into all that tech sh!t, then you’ll drool over Peter Saville’s tectonic waveform graphic for the HKD.
Bottom Line: HKD could stand for so many things… hot korn dogs, honey kooz doodler, but instead, DC went with Honeycomb Kevlar Directional—pretty dope sh!t, n'est-ce pas?
I bought this off a guy on CL, and it's definitely a stiff board. I'm 6'-4", 230 and ride a 160. It's my first advanced-intermediate ride and it took a bit to get used to the stiffness.
The other thing that I have trouble with is the base. I don't know if this is standard with the sintered 7500, but it seems that I cannot hold a wax for more than a day. When the wax eventually rubs off, the base sticks something awful and makes a sound like nylon being rubbed together. I've tumbled a couple times just from the base sticking to the snow. Not cool.
All told, it is a very fast board, and floats like a dream in pow. After getting used to how much to boss it to turn, it's a great ride. Get a wider one if you've got gigantic feet like me. I wear a 13, and my toes hang over.
You don't see much DC boards around these days, but if you're looking for one, this is what you want.
This All-Mountain board does it all.
It's fast and responsive down the slopes and has enough flex for the park. Great board.
Dak..."You don't see much DC boards around these days" you make it sound like they are an old thing, DC just started making snowboards last season (07/08) and they didn't really hit the public for sale till this season (08/09). They are new school not old school. Anyway, id give them a few years to get into the groove of things and work their kinks out. I have a buddy who has one who isn't very impressed, and I have pretty much only heard negative things from people on the mtn about theirs.
