Description of DAKINE Overhead Rolling Bag - 2500cu in.:
There's no reason to lug your luggage through the airport. The DAKINE Overhead Rolling Carry-On makes your terminal traverse easy with an extendable handle and urethane wheels. A split-level design helps you pack this DAKINE bag quickly and still be able to find everything when you get to your destination. Two top pockets keep magazines and your MP3 player accessible to fight off boredom during the flight.
Bottom Line: Make your traveling easier by packing your stuff in this DAKINE bag.
I have yet to use the bag but wanted to at least let it be known that the bag's tag says it's 2300 cu in rather than 2500. It's just a bit smaller than I had hoped, but does look like it will fit more than it first appears. The fabric is cool and the bag has a softer shell than others I've had in the past. I'm going to see how it does on my upcoming trip before giving it it's full rating. Stay tuned!
I wasn't impressed with this bag when it arrived in the mail, but now that I've used it, it has won me over.
I purchased this bag for a four day weekend trip. My original flight was cancelled so I ended up staying for five days. I could fit more than enough clothes and shoes for five days in this luggage. The two equally sized compartments are very nice and make it easy to open and close the luggage and take out the item you want. Each side has a mesh with a zipper so you can see inside, but nothing will fall out.
I like to read on the plane, so I put one book in each front pocket. This turned out to be wiser than expected. The plane was so small that, at the gate, they checked my bag for gate claim, so it was easy to take out my book before I boarded the plane and slip it back in the front pocket when we arrived at our destination.
I agree with the former reviewers on the following:
1) Yes, the top and side handles make it very easy to pick up and carry. They are thick and sturdy. The extendable handle works well, too, except I find that I have to press the button a few times before it extends, because I don't press it deep enough the first time. So make sure you press that button deep.
2) When you stand up the bag, it does tend to lean forward, so you have to stand it up carefully. If you don't stand it up carefully, it will fall over.
