It sounds like a lot to ask—a down jacket that won’t get soaked during winter storms and that can magically turn into a down-less shell with Underarm zips and a removable powder skirt for sunny spring days. Welcome to the Columbia Women’s Revibe Parka. This parka’s outer shell has 10K-rated fabric and fully taped seams, while the removable liner adds or subtracts the warmth of 550-fill down duck insulation. This three-in-one Columbia jacket’s articulated elbows make pulling up the removable hood an easy task instead of an awkward, stiff-armed salute.
Bottom Line: Down one day, shell the next, both on the weekend.
I have horrible circulation and live in New England. I was looking for a very warm jacket that I could wear on the slopes, day to day, and out to dinner. Each shell looks and fits great by itself. They snap into each other, which I didnt think I would like, but it's great because it allows you access to the outer pockets of the inner shell and in the inner pockets of the outer shell without separating them. It's extremely warm (inner shell is 550 fill-down) and fits perfectly true to size. The lip on the hood is also great for added coverage in rain or snow.
My only complaint would be that the zipper on the outer shell sometimes gives me trouble (get's stuck at the very bottom), but after having it a few weeks I've figured out how to avoid it getting stuck.
Also, the pocket zippers on the outer shell are tough. You need two hands to zip and upzip, but it's obvious they were made that way on purpose. The weather cant touch anything inside the pockets.
By far the best bang for your buck. Tag on coat itself says $345. Huge deal. Fits exactly true to size and very durable fabric.
Love this interchangeable system. Both pieces look and feel great worn alone. I too got the red and it's bright and traditional which is fine with me. Together you can't hope for a warmer set up.
I was a bit surprised by the color of the parka when I received it - on the internet I got the impression that it was a dark red shell and black insulated layer. In reality it is a bright red and olive greenish/goldish insulated layer. Luckily I happen to like it. It's obviously excellent quality and has more pockets than I know what to do with and I can tell it will be plenty warm enough for my travels texas to germany and maine and everywhere in between. My only complaint is that I wish the insulated inner jacket wasn't as short and that the shoulder region was just a bit more fitted.
