Description of Cloudveil Run Don't Walk Hooded 1/2 Zip Sweatshirt - Men's:
The Cloudveil Men's Run Don't Walk Hoody plays shortstop between a fleece jacket and a baselayer top, filling in the gap with crucial Polartec Power Stretch insulation and a water-repellent smooth face. When a cold front rolls up the mountain at noon, slip the Run Don't Walk Hoody on under your shell. When your sunny November trail run turns into December midway through, throw the Run Don't Walk Hoody over your tee and keep truckin'. When the après hot tub is fifty meters from your door through drifting snow…well, you get the point, and so did Cloudveil.
Bottom Line: The Cloudveil Run Don't Walk Hoody keeps changing conditions from changing your plans.
I was expecting a technical base/mid layer when I ordered this, but the fit was very strange. It is cut very loose and baggy, more like a hoody you would wear to walk the dog than when hiking or climbing. According to the sizing chart I fall at the upper end of the medium size range, but the medium I received fits me like a bag. I could probably have been comfortable in a small.
Not sure what Cloudveil were aiming for here. They added technical features like a hood and thumbholes, but then used a very non-technical cut. I ended up returning it and buying a Patagonia R1 Hoody.
This is made from my favorite Polartec Powerstretch for running in cool weather. It is comparable to the Marmot Powerstretch Half-Zip except for the extra hood and thumb loops. It looks stylish too but I wish they would have included a pocket somewhere.

Super Comfy hooded ski Midlayer for COLD days 10-20-09
Like most PowerStretch products, this stuff feels great against the skin and provides awesome mobility. Gusseted arms and thumbholes are a huge plus for climbing and skiing, and the longer cut tucks into my ski pants. It is essentially a warmer R1 Hoody without pockets. Also layers great under my MHW Xenon Shell.
