When you need one jacket that performs in the backcountry but looks the part at the local mountain watering-hole, stick with the Cloudveil Men's Headwall Jacket. This Windstopper Softshell takes on gnarly weather like a champ, blocking out alpine gusts and resisting water. Polartec microfleece lines this jacket and traps in body heat while maintaining breathability. A removable powder skirt, snap-cuff wrist closures, and a storm collar keep that fluffy pow out, while contrast stitching and bartack detailing gets you noticed by that cute local liftie.
Bottom Line: If ‘skiing' describes your lifestyle, the Cloudveil Headwall Jacket will function quite nicely your day-to-day routine.

Great Jacket but shop around and check sizes 01-27-09
One thing to be careful of is Cloudveil sizes. I normally wear a Large or Extra Large but in this jacket the Medium fits me perfectly.
I got this jacket at REI, I usually get the best price at backcountry and the phone operator has even matched prices when I find it cheeper elsewhere but this jacket I picked up at REI for $34.83 (on sale from $250) and when Backcountry could not match it I drove over to REI and picked it up.
I really loved the jacket when I got it. Replaced my '02 North Face Freeclimb jacket. It is much warmer. The features are nice (powder skirt, snap cuffs, neck cinch). This makes it great for skiing in cold and powder conditions. Fit is rather long in the arms and short in the buddy. It is a highly technical piece, but also stylish enough and weather repellant enough for wearing around town in cold weather. I got mine in Metro and the color is much darker than it appears on this website. I got mine for $99 at T J Maxx- very happy to find Cloudveil gear at deep discount prices. I do have one quality complaint- very early in life, one of the waist-cinch cords came detached from the jacket. This is the second Cloudveil item I've bought recently that I experienced problems with. The other is the plastic bottom snap that fell off a light rain shell (unsure of which model). I would give it five stars other than that problem and the steep price. If you find it on sale, pick it up. It's a really nice piece.
I am very happy with the Headwall. Cloudveil designed a great jacket. It is perfect for everyday wear and efficient in the mountains. I do wish it had a chest pocket. Im 511 and 160lbs and the medium fits perfect with enough room for a layer or two. Overall, I am very satisfied with the Headwall and the other products I own from Cloudveil are also well made and comfortable.
