Description of Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket - Women's:
The Cloudveil Women's Down Patrol Jacket makes a relaxed-fit coat designed for braving the early morning temps when the snow is prime. A hood that fits over your helmet shelters you from the frosty wind, while mesh-lined Underarm zips let you cool off as you skin up the ridge. A powder skirt keeps the pow shots out of your pants, and you can remove the skirt when you want to sport the Down Patrol Jacket's unique quilted look around town.
Bottom Line: The Cloudveil Down Patrol Jacket is like sitting in a hot tub—while—you're skiing, instead of after.
This Cloudveil Down Patrol is my favorite down jacket ever! The fit is perfect, true to size. Usually I wear between a small and XS, with this an XS has been perfect. The warmth and comfort cannot be beat. Not having to wear more than two shirts underneath for maximum warmth has been sweet...helps keep you feeling like you have just enough clothes on to stay warm no matter what. The hood is a great feature and being able to be removed is also very nice, although I haven't had to yet. I love this coat, and plan to wear it for years to come.
One of the best winter jackets you can own for very cold days. The down patrol provides the utmost in comfort and warmth. The hood is great for windy, cold days and is easily removed. For sizing, I am 5'7+ and wear a medium- which fits great for light layers & sweaters underneath. The jacket, for me, is too warm and a bit bulky to ski agressively with but if you go a size smaller it may suit you perfectly on the slopes. It keeps you extremely warm and cozy, and protects from the negative temps extremely well. And, the cut is feminine so it hugs your contours appropriately. It is does not pack small, so it is a better front-country/ski area item then for the backcountry.
This is a great jacket that is very warm and comfortable without being bulky. Also, it is nice and wind and weather resistant. I have never been cold or wet skiing this on a powder day. It is definitely a resort jacket - does not squinch small like other down jackets (not supposed to though, and they are not wind and water resistant). Too hot for the backcountry. But, when it is chilly and you want to get your fill at the resort, this is a great choice. The hood also works great with my Giro Fuse helmet.
