Description of CRKT Snap Fire Knife:
That's not a knife. THIS is a knife. -That's a knife? Wha? Yeah, check it out. (flip) -Damn! Ha, and you thought this wheel thing was some sort of cheesy decoder ring. No. This badboy is CRKT's Snap Fire Knife, designed by master knifemaker Ed Van Hoy. When the Snap Fire is closed, its stainless steel frame looks like a work of art; open, the Snap Fire reveals a handy 2.375-inch combo serrated/flat blade that's ideal for tasks around the house or on the trail. All you have to do is press down on the pivot wheels with your thumb and it releases the AUS 8 stainless steel blade. -But aren't you worried it'll open in your pocket or snap back and slice off your thumb? Naw. Columbia River Knife & Tool included a stainless steel blade guard to keep it closed and made it with their patented LAWKS safety system, which turns the Snap Fire into a virtual fixed blade when it's fully opened. -You're right… (looks down) this isn't a knife. THAT's a knife.

Bottom Line: The CRKT Snap Fire Knife—an assisted folder with some bling.

I bought this knife for my husband who works ski patrol at a local mountain. He needs a knife for work and is very picky about the ease of use. He also appreciates good design. This knife can be operated with one hand, and it looks great. He's very, very happy with it!

Looks great but...   08-21-07

The finish on the Snap Fire is great but to me it's more of a collectors item. It can be opened with one hand, but it feels awkward and slow. I recently purchased a Kershaw with the "spring" loaded blade, I love this knife. It opens with one finger! It's user friendly is my everyday knife.

when i hear the name of a knife being "snap fire" i think of both powerful and fast. the opening action of this knife is neither of the two. although the blade on the knife is very sharp, it is only ground on one side (did not know when purchased, but still a sharp knife) overall a good knife, but not what i was expecting.
