Description of Costa Del Mar Draft Polarized Sunglasses - Costa 400 Lens: |
 |
Costa Del Mar's Draft Polarized Sunglasses grace your face with high-quality, scratchproof polycarbonate lenses and a sleek, light weight laser-welded frame. These rimless shades are up for anything from a day on the links to an afternoon on the ocean. The Draft's corrosion-resistant frames and hinges stand up to salt water, sweat, sun block, beer—whatever, the Draft has you covered. Costa Del Mar's polycarbonate lenses pull out all the eye-protecting stops with 8 layers of reflecting zircon, titanium and magnesium oxides, embedded in the lens, which means crystal clear vision that'll last longer than your last three pair of shades combined.
Bottom Line: No dodging necessary.

| Great design, but one big problem 04-24-09 |
Bob B (1): |
| I loved these glasses as they fit perfectly, great looking and lightweight. However, 2 months after I had them, the stud that attached the nose piece to the lens, snapped off. The most stress I ever put on them was moving them from my face to the top of my head. So, I call backcountry and they send me a replacement pair. That was 3 weeks ago.
Now the nut that holds the lens to the same little threaded stud is loose. I called Costa Del Mar and they said do not even attempt to fix it myself. They said sent it to them. Being only a few weeks since I received these I called and explained he situation to Backcountry. Per usual, Backcountry customer service is second to none. They are fantastic. Pair number two is now enroute to BC, and pair number 3 is enoute to me.
If pair number 3 breaks in the same spot, my next review will not be so favorable for this model. |

| Durability and customer service problems 01-22-09 |

| I wanted to like the glasses. They're light and fit well. However, I broke them one month after I got them by gently leaning forward against a table in a restaurant with the glasses in my breast pocket. The screw on the nose bridge snapped.
I contacted customer service, asking to pay for a replacement nose bridge, but they insisted I send the glasses to them for "their inspection" which, per their website, could take 2-3 weeks. The problem? I'm leaving for vacation in the Caribbean in 10 days. As these glasses are modular, they could easily ship a replacement part, and I could assemble them myself. Instead, I'll be wearing a cheap pair bought at a gas station for all my vacation pictures.
Thanks Costa... |

| Lightweight, but nice optics 04-27-09 |

| There are times when I really like having lightweight shades (and I always prefer polarized sunglasses). The lenses on these seem high-quality, and they are very light and comfortable. Fortunately, they come with a hard case (because they don't seem sturdy enough to handle any serious abuse). I got these on SAC, and don't think that they would be worth paying full price for. |
