Description of Burton Supermodel X Snowboard:
Burton gave the Supermodel X Snowboard every possible advantage they could come up with for ripping the sickest, steepest, big-mountain lines and backcountry chutes. The Powder Fly III core uses lighter materials in the tip and 10mm tapered shape to increase float without having to move the stance back more than an inch. This lets you land switch with confidence when you throw a five from the cornice. A super-fast Sintered WFO Vision base lets you tearing down the goods at blinding speeds, and Carbon Vaporskin construction to keep the whole package lightweight. Burton also added ICS mounting to provide nearly limitless stance options with standard or EST bindings. *We can't control the color of board you get, but who doesn't like surprises? No seriously. **DISCONTINUED**

Bottom Line: From AK to your local steeps, this board slays it all.

Supermodel X- wants to fly   02-19-09
jesse_thom587106 (3): rank
Have ridden 3 days so far - this board want to go fast, fast, fast. In the groomers you'll be flying in no time at all- seems like the board wants to accelerate. Good flex in the turns and the edges feel nice when your going through toe to heel transitions. Got in the deep powder and it was dreamy and fun - there's a great latitude of stance widths with the EST system and plenty of room to set the bindings way back for powder riding. Definitely fun so far! by the way I'm 6'3" and weigh about 190 lb. - size 13 feet and no problems with toe or heel drag. was concerned at first because it's a mid-wide not a true wide board. Hope this helps!

monster in powder and at speeds   03-31-09
snoscape (2): rank
This board is perfect for anyone not interested in riding park. I'm 5'7", 145lbs and like a bigger board for high speeds and powder. It does that perfect: the edges hold and don't let go, the flex is snappy, and best of all it doesn't chatter on crud and choppy groomers. It really shines in powder, the taper helps with float and stomping drops is a breeze. Also, even with the taper, it still rides switch ok. The ICS is overrated - infinite stance options are unnecessary and just another burton gimmick to keep people from using bindings from other manufacturers. The only advantage of the ICS is that it's real easy to change the setback on powder days. Ranting aside, it's an amazing board.

Freeride Demon   04-10-09

I grabbed the 164 on a whim a week ago in Tahoe to replace a board I destroyed. This nasty stick is freeride demon. Simple, clean graphics with a carbon black look that has a sparkling/pattern/ shine to it---sick.. Large nose with 10mm taper(It's basically A Custom X with taper) and setback stance allows the board to sail over crud/chop etc. . (It's the only board in the 2009 lineup that features the Powder fly 3 core which is lighter in the nose allowing the board to slay pow) Slight adjustments need to be made when landing jumps due to short tail, but once I figured it out, I landed everything and it was not an issue. Pretty stiff, but not quite as stiff as my t6, As you might expect, it takes some effort to Ollie, but it snaps in and out of turns nicely. It's a wider board(I think it's a midwide), so it's average edge to edge, but you can crank it up to face-melting speed with zero chatter. It's stable and the Stainless steel PDE edges make it a carving machine. As with most high-end Burtons, the new N2O vision base is fast as I blew by almost everyone all day, but I never got to see it's full potential as I was stuck riding with the lame factory wax. I imagine it's as fast as my t6, But I can't call it the drag race winner till I get to hand-wax it. The board is also surprisingly lightweight(even at 164)due to the Carbon Vaporskin topsheet., Powder Fly 3 core etc. The Super X basically has almost every piece of Burton tech thrown into it and it rides like a Ferrari-fast, light and stable.. Burtons High-end decks(t6, CX, Super X) are LIGHT-years ahead of the low-end models in performance. This a great board for the advanced riders who rip Big-mountains(Vail/Squaw/Jackson Hole)--wide open bowls/steeps/powder
