Description of Burton AK 3L Skid Hi-Top Pant - Men's:
The Burton Men's AK 3L Skid Hi-Top Pant is a Gore-Tex suit of armor for ridiculously stormy conditions. The AK Skid Hi-Top Pant features a guaranteed-waterproof Gore-Tex laminate sandwiched between two layers of fabric. Burton treated the outer layer with DWR for durability and weatherproofness and gave the inner layer Micor Grid Backer Technology. The grids increase breathability and glide over your first layer for enhanced freedom of movement. The AK Skid Hi-Top Pant's higher cut adds protection for the deepest powder days. When nature calls, unzip the Bomb Drop Butt Flap and, uhhh … do your thing. Huge, gusseted front pockets with water-resistant zippers keep all your essentials close at hand. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line: Whatever the winter weather, this Burton AK Pant gets the job done.
These pants are great. The high top keeps all the snow out an the gore-tex keeps your butt dry even on those slushy spring days. Very durable as well. A great purchase!
I paid $114 for these pants. I think they had some sort of error on the pricing because the next day they were back around $200. I AM STOKED! These things are awesome. Super comfy. A bib that is just the right size. Lots of vents. I wish there was another pocket or two but outside of that they are perfect. I will be using them for backcountry but I tested them at Snowbird in the pow and they were all I could ask for.
These pants are truly sick. The gore-tex Proshell is extremely durable and waterproof.
Likes: The build quality is excellent. It is true to size. I am a thin 6'2" and the L fits me perfect. The front pockets are large and fleece lined for added comfort. They aren't really in a place to warm hands conveniently, but they hold all the essential stuff. All zippers, which includes the side zips and the fly can be opened/closed from both the top and the bottom, which is extremely convenient. The waist is adjustable, which helps since there is no belt loop.
Dislikes: These are only minor dislikes. A belt loop would be a great added feature but is not needed since there is waist adjustment and also built-in suspenders. I have a Burton 3L jacket and I wish there was a way to zip-in to the snow guard of this jacket.
