Description of Burton Ak 2L Cyclic Jacket - Men's:
Until global warming eats up the earth, zip up the Burton Men's AK 2L Cyclic Jacket for winter’s return. Burton tricked out this jacket with Gore-Tex Performance Shell material and Gore-Seam Tape for protection that’s guaranteed to keep you dry. The ALS lining manages warmth and moisture so you don’t overheat, while Underarm zips help cool things down when the hike ends up being a little longer than expected. Attach the storm skirt to your Burton pants on those really deep days, and throw a bud or two into the front chest pocket for a mid-ride break. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line: Good thing winter's coming back ... this year at least.
If it holds up to the nuking snow, blowing winds (at least 40 some larger gusts), and keeps giving with its powder skirt and side zip that doesn't rub your chin raw this jacket kicks big ASS I have had several great gore tex jackets and this one out shines the rest I have had ten days on this coat im from Utah today was by far the windiest snowiest white out conditions and it of coarse kept me bone dry and gore tex is completely wind proof
I bought this jacket because I was looking for something to replace my tired-looking North Face shell. I just spent three days riding through deep powder in this thing, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. The length is definitely the best feature. For the first time ever, I didn't have any snow-down-yer-pants: I didn't think this was possible! The pockets are plentiful and well-laid out. The jacket has more generous fit than I would prefer (especially when compared to other brands). The hood is large enough to fit over my helmet, which is great. The jacket's neck is tall enough that it could replace my separate neck gaiter on days where it's not bitter cold. The jacket is just a shell, but I didn't need more layers than normal to maintain my usual comfort level. Overall, I'm happy that I bought this and I would recommend it to others.
Exactly what I was looking for. It's just a shell so don't think you're gonna wear this thing by it self in anything less than freezing conditions, but thats exactly where it excells. I took it out with a base layer and fleese hoody and was warm in neg 45 windchill. This baby shuts the wind out entirely! only down side, it's hard to zip it all the way up with a helmet on.
