The most striking thing about this jacket is it's breathability. It's breathable like a regular fleece, and yet is still completely wind-proof. It's quite light for a softshell in terms of insulation. I have an Arc'Teryx Gamma SV jacket, which is also a lightweight Polartech Powershield jacket, and the AK Pitch seems to have about half the fabric thickness / stiffness of the Gamma SV. Thus, it offers very little insulation of its own, and should not be relied upon for warmth. The cut, which is quite generous compared to Arc'Teryx, seems designed to have an insulator layered underneath should you need more warmth. The shell is stretchy and flexible. It is quite long compared to other softshells, extending several inches past my natural waistline ( I purchased the size M, and I am 6'2, 185 lbs with a 33" waist ). The waist tapers such that it hugs my hips, effectively creating the same barrier to entry as a powder skirt. People accustomed to the fit of mountaineering technical outerwear will find this piece not baggy but certainly loose. The cut is perfect for snowboarding. Tight in all the right places, and loose everywhere else. This is destined for use as my spring riding jacket. I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the look of the jacket when you put it on, I don't think the pics do justice to the stylish cut. My only knock on this piece is it's outrageous price (considering it's made of the same powershield material as many sub-$200 softshells on this site) and lack of extra features to justify the cost, though thanks to you guys the price right in the pocket!
