Description of Backcountry.com Prime Power Stretch Pant - Men's:
Tired of freezing on your winter dawn patrol? Layer up with the Backcountry.com Men’s Prime Power Stretch Pant for the extra insulation you need. Polartec Power Stretch fabric provides a body-hugging fit that layers well under your shells. The designers would have added some logos or something, but they were too busy getting in early season turns to come up with anything.
Bottom Line: Coffee? Check. Skis? Check. Prime Pants? Check. More coffee? Check.
These pants/underwear are a good value. They are half the price of the Arc'Teryx Rho, (even better on SAC) but are made of the same material. While the Rho has a slighty better fit, I don't think it's worth paying twice the price for. Besides they are warm, no one sees them (well, usually) and you are just going to impact farts into it, so why pay double?
These make a sick base for winter revelry. I'm warm enough with just these and a breathable hiking pant. The fabric is smooth on the outside and fleecy on the in, and is about the thickness of a thin pair of sweat pants. They are very stretchy (even though it says a 32" inseam, they flex easily to accommodate my 6' 4" frame). Even on steep ascents on snowshoes they wick the sweat away like...a vacuum...I'll work on the similes. You work on getting a pair of these babies.
Really great as a base layer under a waterproof shell in the winter or on their own as lounge pants on a cold day. Not too thick, don't get full of static cling, and fit perfectly (even for a tall person like me!).
