Description of Atlas 11 Series Snowshoe - Women's:
When you’re breaking trail and the slope gets steep, simply reach down and pull up the climbing bar on your Atlas Women’s 11 Series Snowshoes. This climbing bar reduces calf fatigue and puts your foot in a more natural position so you can weight the full snowshoe and take advantage of the sharp side rails instead of just the front crampons. The Elektra frame has a narrower waist and a tapered tail (as compared to the men’s shoe) so you don’t feel like your stride is hampered by clunky snowshoes, and the Spring-Loaded Suspension suspends the binding so your foot can step down at a natural angle even when you’re traversing a slope.
Bottom Line: Getting steep? Engage the climbing bar and hike on.
I had mine for two years and used them just about every chance I can get in the Winter. Yes, they do pelt snow up your back but not a big problem if dressed appropriately. The shoes are light, easy to put on and stays on, with great traction going up and down icy hills. I can't wait to use them again soon! Hightly recommended, just make sure you wear water-proof pants or at minimum, water-resistant ones - ie. cycling tights.
Im very happy with my decision(after great recom.) to not buying the atlas 925 w/o heel lifter and 11 series w heel lifter.I got what i want now.MSR Denali Evo Ascent.Looking for US not China product?-MSR Denali snowshoe.Need a high traction?-MSR.Worry about size?-get a flotation tail for your MSR 4,6,8 inch(30$).wanna climb something similar(pico mtn,VT-upper giant killer)?-get something with heel lifter,MSR Ascent(televator)-very usefull!!.About a warranty?-lifetime.Im not sure what could happend with materials used on atlas snowshoes. There is no way to fix them(if need)(no accessories,no solid materials).Msr has Field Maintenance Kit.I like atlas 11 series, they look very nice but i was looking for very solid snowshoe, for all snow and mtn conditions.(for now and for many more years)
I have the atlas, electra 11 series, and while they are great for climbing up hills and steep terrain(great grip and foot movement)they kick snow. My friend has the classic MSR's and she has no problems, but I am constantly being pelted with snow from my shoes and therefore have to watch what I wear, as it can soak through lighter layers when your stripped down to work hard. I am currently looking to buy a new pair of snowshoes even though I only purchased these last year!! I would not recommend then for long flat powder or trail shoeing!
