Conserve core warmth without hindering your movement or weighing you down with the Arc’teryx Men’s Celeris Vest. With wind- and moisture-resistant shell fabric and stretch-knit underarm cuffs, this lightweight vest makes an ideal layer for late-season trail runs, day hiking, or alpine rock routes. A side zip pocket stores your MP3 player, and reflective logos help you stay visible around town.
Bottom Line: A light protective layer for fast, active days.
I purchased this vest primarily for road cycling. I'd been searching for a decent vest without mesh on the back as I wanted more warmth and weather protection. I road a 40+ mile loop last weekend with conditions ranging from low 50s with steady wind and rain to mid sixties and sunny. My kit was bike shorts, jersey, arm warmers and the Celeris vest. A vest is the most versatile piece of cycling outerwear you can own, and this vest is superb. It beaded rain, and cut wind. Even on decents where speeds exceeded 35 mph, I did not feel chilled. When the sun came out and temps rose to mid 60s, the vest breathed very well. I did not feel like I was wearing a plastic bag in a sauna. The back is cut slightly lower for added protection, a handy pocket on the side of your torso can hold gels or bars for easy access while riding (but is not annoyingly in the way as handpockets would be), and my favorite feature of this vest is the fleece lined high-standing collar. Blocks the wind from getting down under the vest, and the fleece feels great against raw skin. This vest has more applications than just cycling. It would be great for running and hiking, as a versatile piece for mixed conditions. If I were to design a vest, mine would look and perform like the Celeris.
