Zip up the relaxed-fit Arc'teryx Men's Scout Jacket when you need an extra layer of warmth on the hill, or want a stylish technical jacket to sport around the village. Arc'teryx constructed the Scout with wind-resistant Polartec to help keep your core insulated and block chilly alpine breezes. The Scout wicks moisture to the outside for rapid evaporation and balances warmth, breathability, and style.
Bottom Line: Arc'teryx warmth and style for the mountain and the village.
I own a lot of Arc' jackets for different applications. They are, by definition, cut to fit skinny, long-armed athletes. I waited many yrs for someone to come along that made clothes to fit me. If you're looking for a more regular fit, try Patagonia, or North Face. North Face runs roomy (too much for me, at 6'2" 190 lbs I get caught between lg's and XL's all the time). Arc' fits me cuz it is slim in girth but long in arms.
This jacket is very comfortable without sacrificing its athletic fit. Pretty warm too. Being 5'11 and 160lbs, I bought the small size to retain the athletic look. I use this jacket as a mid-layer on a very cold day or an outer layer when the temperature goes above 40 degrees.
The only thing I don't like about this jacket is the amount of static electricity that the material generates each time I take it off. This is my first jacket that is made from herringbone so I don't really know if this is a common trait for this material.
Like others say, its light, its warm, and cut great. I'm 5'8" and 155lbs and a small fits perfect. Layered with a shell and a base layer and it'll handle some frigid conditions.
Just be careful of the colours. On my computer (apple laptop), the inca blue i bought looks like a dark aqua blue colour, but turned out to be a very dark greenish blue, and i don't like it. I have another arcteryx jacket in copper, and its a wonderful colour, not so bright orange as it looks on my computer but a nice dark copper-orange. The mineral colour in other jackets looked off white to me but turned out to be a pale green.
Dispite the colour dissapointent, a very well constructed jacket, and i'm definitely an arcteryx junkie now.
