Description of Arc'teryx Patriot SV Jacket - Men's:
In addition to a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex Pro shell, the Arc'teryx Men's Patriot SV Jacket includes PrimaLoft synthetic insulation to keep you toasty on frigid backcountry ski days. A quilt-free design ensures the Patriot SV Jacket has no cold spots or extra seams to leak moisture. Arc'teryx gave this warm ski jacket an integrated powder skirt and stowable hood to keep out the snow as you battle nasty weather or ski waist-deep powder.
Bottom Line: Lose your four-layers of fleece, and keep in the warmth by heading to the snowy hills with the Arc'teryx Patriot SV Jacket.
I bought this jacket thinking it was one of the best on the market, unfortunatly within three weeks the pocket came completely delaminated. I sent back my jacket to arc'teryx and it has been a month and a half, and still no jacket! I wish I never gave up my old jacket and had my money back! Won't buy arc'teryx again! Very Disappointed!
Gore-Tex pro shell is the best stuff out there, primaloft is one of the better insulations, so you know this jacket performs well. Cuffs are cut offset, so the edge comes down under the base of your thumb nicely. Pocket selection is kinda weak. Would prefer if the powder skirt could zip out. Biggest complaint is the hood. I like the stowable hood, it's just the way it adjusts - the entire hood adjusts with one drawstring, located on the back of the hood. It probably is great for most, but I have a very short neck. as the hood cinches down, to fit snugly over my head, it bunches out on the sides, creating a nice little wind tunnel around each of my ears. With no drawstrings on each side, like most jackets, there is no way to remedy this. Not as big a deal with a helmet, but do you wear a helmet every time you put on your jacket in nasty weather? Me either.
OK, until about 2 months ago, I had never heard of Arc'Teryx. A friend at work suggested it, and I was thinking about replacing my 7 year old Columbia Titanium coat. I shopped around, and decided on the Patriot. When it came it was extremely lightweight, and I was unsure whether it would keep me warm. Although temperatures rose before I received it, I did wear it this past weekend shooting skeet in windy ~40 degree weather. I felt nothing other than the pressure of the wind. Today, it snowed and then rained. Everything beaded up off the coat. If this keeps me warm in 10+ degrees, this will be the most amazing coat ever. So far, worth every penny.
