Description of Arc'teryx Regent Cardigan Sweater - Men's:
Arc'teryx made the Men's Regent Cardigan Jacket with Montemurlo Italian wool to add a touch of class to your afternoon around town. The Regent Cardigan Jacket is made with the same attention to detail as all Arc'teryx's jackets. This wool jacket sports the elegance of a tailor-made piece with a style that only Arc'teryx can deliver. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: The Regent Cardigan Jacket combines dress-jacket quality with casual style from Arc'teryx.
Need to review this for what it is clearly intended to be — a casual sweater with sport styling. It's not a wool performance layer, and anyone dreading The North Face-ization of Arc'teryx will be disappointed that they're in the casual clothing market at all. The fit isn't baggy at all by casual standards, it's actually on the trim side. All considered, it's a great-looking cardigan that downplays the logo so you could wear it to work or out on the town.
Why the low rating? At first I was excited that I could get a wool Arc'teryx cardigan with their classic, simple design for about the same price as their synthetic fleece layers, or the price of a high-end casual wool sweater, for that matter. But the wool blend they use isn't soft merino — it's scratchy and coarse. No wearing this over a t-shirt with major discomfort. For what this is designed for, and for what they're charging, it's inexcusable to use cheap wool.

This sweater looks great on the website and I was stoked when I ordered it. However, when it arrived, I regretfully packed it up and sent it back. As the previous reviewer stated, the wool is scratchy and coarse. Also, the sleeves were 2 inches too long for me (I wear a M for every other Arc'teryx item). So, buyer beware. The sweater looks nice but isn't very comfortable in fit or material.
As previously stated, the wool is extremely coarse, and you could probably not want to wear it directly against your skin.
But that said, it is a nice piece of streetwear. If you're the outdoorsy type (and what else are you here for, right?) then you would not want to take this thing off-road.
It is fairly loosely woven so wind cuts right through it. The cut is good for someone who is of medium to slim build. I am 6'3" & 205lbs and the XL fits me very well. Also, the collar is stiff, pointy & sticks up, catching me right under the chin.
If you're spending this kind of money then the Backcountry branded Siphon woolen jacket is a MUCH better buy (unless you don't want a hood). That has a much tighter weave, but is cut for a very slim person. The XL in that is much more fitted on me.
Buy this one instead of the A'T:
