Description of Arc'teryx Trident Softshell Jacket - Men's:
Arc'teryx created the Men's Trident Softshell Jacket for backcountry ski days when you're pushing hard, moving fast, and a regular ski jacket just isn't breathable enough. The Trident Softshell Jacket's tough-faced polyester fabric pulls moisture away from your body, prevents overheating, and is water resistant enough to keep you dry in light snowfall. This Arc'teryx jacket is ideal to wear as an outer shell on bluebird days or as an insulating layer when the storm clouds roll in. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: The Arc'teryx Trident Softshell Jacket keeps up when you're really pushing yourself on a backcountry ski trip.
Pros:
Great water-resistence, totally stops the wind, great stretch ability, very stylish, good sleeve length for long-armed folk.
Cons:
A bit large around torso unless you're layering (which is good for cold weather) some bunching of material occurs under armpits, but maybe I'm just too skinny for the medium.
Overall:
Good for moderately cold weather, but in real cold stuff you'll want more insulation. A top notch soft shell!
Just got mine in Pine; There's a white pin-stripe along the seam, up the arms to the back; it's on the back side so it's not seen in the picture (although one of the detail shots shows it.) The lining is a sort of short, felt-like material; same as my Sigma SV. It's warm, but makes it tough to slide on over some shirts. It has a drawcord at the waist. The arms seem a bit long, but I rather like that to keep covered when reaching. Myself, I didn't find it large around torso, but I'm getting a bit tubby in my old age (bought a large; I'm 6'0" 200lbs.) As with a lot of Arc'teryx stuff, I'm not sure it's worth paying full list price for, but at discount it's a good buy.
I'm a big fan of this softshell. Great spring/fall all around jacket. Great for moderately cold weather, definately need to pick up a more heavy duty shell with thicker lining for winters. I bought the pine and the pictures don't do it justice. It's darker than the pictures I saw of it, they must be of an earlier model. Better looking jacket than I initially thought it would be. I'm 6', 180lbs and bought the large. Fits great, I don't notice any bunching and it allows for full movement without any discomfort or anything being exposed. Excellent cut, looks great, I've recieved numerous compliments.
