The Sigma LT Jacket from Arc'teryx wants to take you running in cold dry weather. Combining two materials to get the most out of each allows the Sigma LT to stay warm and dry from the inside out. WindStopper fabric stops chilly winds from cooling your core while Bonded Poly panels let excess heat escape. An athletic cut encourages you to move quickly while running or snowshoeing under bluebird skies. Cold weather bouldering or cycling is made easier with the Sigma LT's no-lift underarms and waist length fit. Numerous pockets stash essentials away until you get back to the car. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: Jackets for those that don't let winter slow them down.
I wore this the other day in a light rain for about 3.5 hours and stayed totally dry. This is not a rain jacket, but I was very impressed by its water repellence. It also kept me warm during light activity with just a merino t-shirt and fleece hat. This jacket is very well built, like all Arc'teryx products. I recommend as a light weight softshell.
I've had this jacket for about 6 months now, and it's proven to be a great buy. I've used it down to -2 or -3 C with a thin wool undershirt and felt warm. That's pretty impressive considering how light this jacket is - and how it compresses to the size of a t-shirt! It fits snugly so there's no flapping or billowing when you're doing something hardcore like helmet sports, and everything is adjustable so there's no chance of the wind getting in anywhere.
Please bear in mind though, this is not a waterproof jacket (although I used it in a solid downpour and it stayed dry), nor is it a jacket for really cold conditions when used by itself. It is a jacket for energetic activities. It's really tough, it's really windproof and it looks good also.
A great buy.
...my love has come along. This is the softshell I've been looking for! I've tried a bunch and this is the one. I own the MH Alchemy and it's too heavy for any season but winter. I own a couple from OR and neither of them fit right (big some places, too small others). I've tried the Arc' Epsilon AR and returned it. The Sigma it looks like is now discontinued and replaced most likely by the Venta which is a couple ounces heavier. As for the Sigma, I got the Size L and am 5'11" 205 so it fits athletically, I would say. It's great with just a base T and works without constriction with a 320 weight wool mid layer. Since it's cut closer, I can wear it under a hardshell if needed, although it's water resistance should keep you dry apart from a typhoon. It's as breathable as a windstopper piece can be, and for someone who runs hot this will suffice down to the mid 30's if your active. Just standing around probably mid 40's.
